Every aspect felt rushed and unfinished. Didn't have time to settle in with the characters or care for them. The tension felt surface level and low stakes. Not my favourite by Sierra Simone

This book had a strong opening chapter, which does not always bode well for the rest of a book but I'm glad to report I was not disappointed.

The main character was intriguing,; the will-they-won't-they kept me on my toes; the religious and political landscape felt game-of-thrones-esque (in a good way).

The vibe of this story is band of brothers meets romance meets devious plotting. Enough to keep you excited and perfectly-whelmed. This ending was slightly rushed but it wasn't the end of the world.

A decent story

Yeah this duology bangs. I devoured it so quickly after Six of Crows. Just joyful, tense, wild and enjoyable. Wish there was another book to experience more of these characters. Love them individually and as couples. I did come across some spoilers before reading/listening but still had an emotional reaction. Can't wait to be 30 years older and re-experience this series again like it was the first time :)

Six of Crows was my first foray into fantasy and I was not disappointed.

I listened to the audiobook and found it charming, witty and well written. It gave me plotting, yearning, and mystery.

The multiple POVs kept my attention and were a great device to add intrigue to the story. I enjoyed how certain motivations were hidden in the shadows, then revealed to the reader triumphantly.

As someone new to the genre, I found the magic system and world-building pretty easy to grasp. The characters - diverse and layered (even Joost). Each aspect added to the texture of the story and I found my self staying up all night to listen to one more chapter.

Did I pick up this book because of TikTok edits? Yes.
I came for the ships, and stayed for the found family.
