I don’t think I’ve ever uncontrollably smiled so much while reading a book! Seriously this was precious and every moment had me wanting to squeal and blush and cry happy tears! The authors note at the beginning had me already hooked before the story even began. I am in love with these two and the representation of disabled joy (seriously we need more of that). Such a beautiful story and I can’t wait to re-read it a million times!

Everything about this book had my heart! The angst, what was at stake, the action, the characters. So in love with these two and can’t wait to read more of Jaes books!

I was super excited about this one and it didn’t let me down in the slightest! The angst, humor, tension, and romance!!! The world of this book literally has me in a chokehold. The characters?!?! Like youre kidding!?!? This book perfectly encapsulates why I love fantasy so much!

Also, not sure if this is widely talked about as I haven’t read the second book and refuse to have it spoiled for me. But the fact that Violet is chronically ill? Like stop it! Girl same! Seeing that represented in a fantasy book made me so emotional!

Wow! When I picked up this book I had no idea what I was getting into. I hadn't heard anything about it and read the back. I knew then that this book would consume my life! I am a massive Moulin Rouge! fan (film & broadway) and the references melted my heart! The theater kid in me is also insanely excited to get my hands on Greer Rivers other books which are also retellings of Broadway shows. Seriously, how have I not heard of these?

I was worried with this being a dark romance that I wouldn't like it as much, not because of it being a dark romance (I have nothing wrong with it), but because it is a retelling of a story I had fallen in love with so long ago. I was wrong. Yeah, sure, there were a few moments where I was like 'blah, get a room' but I am also very lonely so take that as you will.

I am excited to read more of Greers books in the future! This is a book I can see myself re-reading over and over just as I listen to the soundtrack and watch the film over and over.
