that shit was DARK and i loved it. i didn’t care much for the sex chapters but they were crucial for selling the story. i loved how the end is open to interpretation too….

it’s amazingly written and the creation of the monster as a character is amazing, the amount of sympathy it causes for the reader…. though you can’t just sympathise with a murderer because it’s unlike others and lonely. he was just so delusional towards the end of the book too. it was slow paced and the writing although mesmerising made it hard to pick up again.

jane austen is obviously amazing but maybe since this was her first book that it was kinda choppy and i just didn’t like the storyline. i assumed it would center more about the gothic mysteries but that parts like 5%??? of the book? the  writing is ahead of it’s time and i love her perspective but it’s just not for me

the language used is very descriptive and makes the world building very easy but i read it translated and there were a few bits where it was kinda hard to understand what was going on. might be translator’s mistake. it was kinda boring and underwhelming tho. would i recommend? not really

i really liked it. just the end it didn’t feel like
ben loved sébastien that much. yes we’re told how much peace he finds in him but the language is not as descriptive and bright when he thinks about sebastian as it was when he thought of baby back. i think he settled because he is lonely and he knows he is loved. he might love him yes but if baby back ever came back and said i love you, he might just go back to him
