I had issues with one of the FMCs. Yeah, the whole thing is that she's a kid thrust into power, but I didn't like her all that much. There wasn't enough world building for my liking, but it was objectively a good book, in my opinion. I couldn't put it down and it kept me wanting more. I appreciate that in a book, but eh, I have my issues. And this is not the author’s fault (I assume) but the audiobook narrator kept mispronouncing words that took me out of it. Since when is Mausoleum pronounced "mouse-uh-lee-um"?
Do NOT read this book unless you know the trigger warnings. My PTSD was on the brink the entire book, holy shit, I almost didn't get through it. It was well-written, a good book with a good story, but the abuse that is clearly marked on every page, of every paragraph is intense and it reminds me of similar things I went through. It was a hard read, and definitely not for everyone.
