Fantastic premise for a thriller. More of a thriller with queer characters (both black, which was a pleasant surprise) than a romance-forward book. I like the detail in the various settings, the politics and the valid social critique, the weakest part is the execution. The prose is beautifully gory in some parts, in others it's repetitive and hits you over the head. Improvements in the pacing and the prose would make this one of the best thrillers I've ever read. God I feel like there's a best seller in there waiting to be uncovered with tighter editing.

Man Keira Andrews never misses. I thought this was going to be a silly fluffy story from the cover, but no, it's deeply romantic, touching, and life-affirming. I love how her characters aren't perfect romance archetypes and seem to have real and complex lived experiences. I love the sense of place in this book and how it gets much of the lingo right (to my non-Aussie brain). Goddamn I can keep going on about how this is the perfect contemporary romance book ever.
