I don't think I was the target audience despite being a queer woman. I loved the prose and overall story but I don't get the hype. It had me confused and questioning, but I couldn't verbalize what I was confused about, and I've tried.

Screaming, crying, throwing up honestly. This book is a whirlwind of emotions that left me numb at the end. It is horror, the idea of The Haar is terrifying. However, at the core of this book is a sad tale about a grieving widow who is losing her friends and home to capitalism and is powerless to stop it. I've never left a horror book feeling absolutely numb and needing to call my therapist so this was a first. It would be a five star but frankly there was one scene that really squigged me out so it looses a quarter of a star lol

While this wasn't a favorite, it was such a fun book that had me on the edge of my seat and cheering for the cast of characters and crying as the plot progressed. If there is one think Darcy Coates does well, it is write a great haunted house story.

Quick and easy read, definitely slow and not super exciting but the ending was really good.

I love deep sea horror. The sea makes for a backdrop where anything can happen and Nick Cutter does that. I really enjoyed the book, however it was extremely slow pacing for me. It felt like it was taking forever as though I was trapped down there with them, which while cool not my vibe. I do recommend the book it is definitely someone's cup of tea.
