My main criticism of this book is that it feels kind of rushed.

I feel like everything from part 2 on could have been fleshed out into another book.  Would have liked more time to get to know some of the Griffon Riders, contrast their whole training and upbringing with everything we know about the main characters and their time at their school.

I feel like they introduced a lot of stuff in the back end of the book that we didnt get a lot of time to explore, but that was true of the last book.

Not as bad as some people are saying! Solid read if you want something kind of fast paced and fanfic-ey to get done fast and give yourself a pat on the back.

It's very much derivative of other works in the sort of scifi-fantasy space.  Very much is the military school arc of Poppy War by RF Kuang by way of Divergent by Veronica Roth with a healthy amount of the Pern books by Anne McCaffery.  A lot of the world building feels like scaffolding for the romance, which is serviceable for most of the book.  It's a fun read, though not overly complicated.
