I am not a huge fan of the movie so I was not too keen on reading this book. But I do love some of the other books in this series. I was pleasantly surprised that I liked it as much as I did. It was a lot darker and death than I had expected. Any one who is a huge fan of Aladdin I would suggest reading this book, it gives you a totally different look inside Jasmine and Aladdin's story.

I loved Beauty and the Beast growing up and still do. I could not put this book down! I would read into the wee hours of the morning as I wanted to know what happened next. It was suspenseful, romantic and engaging in every chapter. The first few chapters confused me. But once I figured out the it was going back and forth between the past of Maurice's life and then switching over to the present with what was happening with Belle and the Beast, I just loved it even more. I love that Liz had combined the past and the present and we saw a side of Maurice that the movie does not show.

I have read this book about 5 times so far plus 1 time I was in grade 5 for a school report. I love this book and how it was written. I love Lois Lowry as an author, The Giver was the first book I have ever read by her and what made me love her as an author. It makes me cry every time I read it. I was able to create such an emotional connection with this book that it will forever be one of my favourites. The movie did not do it justice.
