I loved the world in this book and the writing was great, I just really wish this were way longer. There was so much going on and so much potential this really could have been longer. I think finishing a book and wishing there were more isn’t the worst complaint in the world to have about a book, but I still was left needing more.

I didn’t vibe with this one as much as I thought I would, unfortunately. It was extremely info dumpy so it made it hard to focus on the story. I was kind of waiting for things to happen that never did. I think I might just need to stay away from young adult fantasy because I haven’t been vibing with them as much lately.

I’m so happy sapphics are finally getting darker options. Broken Vows has been on my list a while and I’ve been excited to read it, and it was so good. I think I would have enjoyed more of a balance of focus between characters and storyline because it was very storyline heavy in my opinion with not as much attention paid to the characters. I wouldn’t be mad at another Broken Vows, actually.

I think at this point I’ll read whatever Darva Green writes. She is so good at writing characters and story. She Came From The Swamp isn’t quite what I expected but I really enjoyed it regardless.

Thank you so much to the author for providing an ARC and the chance to read this book! I read the first one and loved it, I didn’t really know what to expect from a second one, but I was a little underwhelmed to be honest. I didn’t exactly hate it, but the second book has a lot of potholes that were never answered by the end of the book. The magic system didn’t really make sense to me, and the two mains spend most of the book apart which could have been done in a way that would work but I don’t think it did here. I think this was fine but definitely could’ve delivered more/better after the first one.

I don’t regret reading this but I don’t think I’d recommend it. Right off the bat it was extremely lesphobic which is unsurprising considering this collective was active in the 60’s/70’s, but I quickly got bored with the repetition of the book. I really enjoyed reading about their experiences, but with a name like “How We Get Free” I guess I expected a little more from it.

Thank you to the author for providing an ARC and the opportunity to read this book! When I picked this book up I didn’t expect it to be as heartfelt as it was. Dosie has a ton of trauma that she actively works on overcoming throughout the book, and Jennifer has baggage of her own that she eventually works through. This was so well written, I really enjoyed it.

Very cute, very cozy. Exactly what I expected. I really liked the very whimsical, funny, sarcastic writing style I don’t think I’ve ever read anything like that. I liked the characters and the story was really quick and cute!
