WOAH !!

i was apprehensive about the footnotes at first but then the author mentioned George Hinney Jr and i was like “Damn 😔”

this is so well done— i didn’t know abolitionist fiction even existed!

i don’t normally read dystopian works (which to me really speaks to the talent of the author)

this book reminded me i’m alive and why i do the research i do and the ethics and questions of conducting research and trying to document experiences.

this is so so beautiful, i feel
i experienced each narrator as the author did— i felt as though i was in the room. the orality of each excerpt comes through so clearly.

it so beautiful to hear people describe themselves in their words.

as a Texan this was so so fascinating to read— although everyone on planet earth will gain something from this

this book also deeply reminded me of the reckoning of history and the environment due to climate change!!

overall so eye opening and a little frightening to read
