I know that it is a Booktok and Bookstagram phenom, but I hated it. For me specifically, I wasn't really interested in the gaming aspect, I found the characters to be quite punchable, and I disliked the miscommunication trope. You're grown ups, just freaking talk to each other...It really just wasn't for me.

I read this book the minute it came out because I had read the first one and liked it. Unfortunately, I did not like this one and would not recommend it. I HATE a miscommunication trope, so this book immediately was not it for me. The only time the characters spoke was when they were having sex or about to.

FMC was pissed about being used, but conveniently forgets that she was literally doing the same thing and continues to in this book. She switched allegiances in this book...She lies and manipulates, but gets manipulated by everyone. The MMC "loves" but doesn't share himself with her...it's a lot of tropes all rolled into one book.

Snooze fest. A LOOOOONG snooze.

FMC was boring and not really redeemable. The love story was just meh. Overall it was lackluster and I love a good historical fiction book, so I do not recommend.

Erin Morgenstern is an automatic read when I see her name on a book. She knows how to write a compelling and interesting story that has a ton of intrigue and twists. This book is no different.

The Night Circus is full of interesting characters, magic, interpersonal relationships, competition, etc. I don't think I expected to read what I did, but I loved it. I specifically loved the change in character's who were narrating the story.

Overall, I loved this book.
