Secrets of a Summer Night by Lisa Kleypas

This was cute. For a very linear story (it's really all about Annabelle trying to avoid Mr. Hunt) with no other sub-plot (which I don't usually like) but I did like it! I didn't have very high hopes for this book. It's predictable but the author made it fun to read and I think I will actually continue with the series and pick up the next book. It will be a side-read for me while I focus on more in-depth books, but it will be a good escape from those. I enjoyed it :)

This could have been a great book. It kept my interest all the way through, even though I had figured out most of the plot early on. I will still excited to see how it was all going to play out. However I feel like the motives were really lacking and the ending was really rushed. More than 90% of the book was building up to the end and then, well, it just ended. Not satisfying at all.

Incredibly captivating and horribly ruthless. I can't wait to continue with The Red Queen.

Reading a Philippa Gregory book is like hopping into a freshly laundered bed after a hot bath with newley shaved legs! It's simply divine! She masters historical fiction with ease and is on point with her "guesses" that fill in the blanks where history has kept it's secrets from us. The Red Queen is no exception when it comes to her masterful story telling. A pure joy to read as the story jumps of the page into my mind creating a beautiful movie that plays in my head with no effort on my part. I forget I'm even reading!

Loved every bit of this story. The historical accuracy made it even more fascinating. Can't wait to read another book by this author.
