Interesting look at wildlife rescues and the volunteers who make them possible. Could have stood to lose about 50 pages of repetitive descriptions of life in the jungle.

There are some excellent stories in the collection but it's not as strong overall as The Stories of Your Life. The Alchemist's Gate is definitely the best of the bunch.

The action picked up in the last 50-75 pages, but it dragged before that. The lack of any likable characters didn't help matters.
