Surprisingly boring.
I adore anything gothic, but this book was so incredibly slow and uninteresting that it made me question whether or not this genre is actually for me.
The first half of the book is well paced and fairly interesting, but from the second half on it becomes more of an encyclopedia on vampires than an actual novel.
I didn't even finish it, I couldn't push myself through it, and I only had 20 pages left, but it just wouldn't pick up the pace!
I spent 200 pages listening to Van Helsing rumble about how vampires are killed, about Dracula's boxes and about how it's their duty as “white christian englishmen” to end the “satanic beast” sent from the deepest pits of hell. But Dracula just wouldn't show up. The book is 500 pages long, and he was there for about 100 of them.
Absolute utter insanity.
