I went into this book not knowing anything about it with 0 exceptions. That being said, everything felt so shallow. The "romance" in it... It didn't come across like the characters actually had any feelings for each other. And all the relationships I feel like went from 0 to 60 in 0.5 seconds. There was no in-depth build to it at all. And the build that was there... it was so superficial. Also, I didn't understand why one minute the sex was fade to black and the next there was light spice. Like, super light. To the point where because I didn't feel anything between the characters when there was suppose to be, I found myself trying to skim over it to get to the plot. Which, the plot, what can I say about it besides I feel like all the major plot points that moved the story forward maybe actually covered less than 100 pages. So about 1/5 of the book. I just wished the plot and the characters and their relationships were more meaty. It was hard to care about the characters when they felt so one dimensional.

I wanted to love this book. And I did love the MMC, Dash. Dash was so well thought out and his family dynamics were so interesting. I wish we explored those more within this book. That being said, Sophie on the other hand... She didn't feel as well thought out. She was given a pacemaker but that didn't add to the character or story at all. Like, if she's going to have something like that, make it more important to the story. That little characterization could have been left out and it wouldn't have changed the story. It definitely didn't add anything to it.

And, this is a small thing, but one of the small minor characters was a knitter who was skilled at knitting dolls. While it is possible, I feel like it would have been better to make her a crocheter. Crocheting is more conducive to making stiffed dolls. Though I guess it does help show off how skilled she is as a knitter. It just didn't seem accurate to me as a skilled knitter who has made knitted stuffed animals.
