I hate to say it but this book definitely suffered from middle book syndrome. The pacing seemed weird and it didn't flow as well as the first book. I found out this is meant to be a trilogy and it all made sense. It definitely felt like a middle book, unfortunately.

I don't know how a book with so many interesting characters with individual backstories woven in with mythology could be so. Damn. Boring. This book was a slog to get through. 😭
