Vampires, Corsets and pretty daggers

Ok wow. This book had it all! From Vampires to courtly intrigue all the way to questionable religious systems. Oh and let's not forget the ignorant sexist human world (because how else would it be) to a realm filled with creatures from the stories long forgotten and magic and most importantly equality, the dark haired shadow daddy Ven might be a perk too.

There is so much I have loved about this book. The writing was at a perfect pace, alternating from quick to slow at the right moments. The descriptions were so vivid that I now have Ravenstone mapped out in my head (would definitely live there).

What also happened is so many questions that have formed in my head that I now can't wait for book two!!!! Like what's going to happen to Aurelia? Where will she go? What do her powers mean? Also how old is Cog (coolest raven ever by the way, very self centred and loves compliments more than head-scratches)? Also what happened to her parents????

Lets get to the tropes I found in this book:
- she hates him at first
- one bed (you'll know when you get there)
- Bound (its like fated mates, very cute and swoon)
- complex magic system
- "save the world vibes"
- no coddling, blunt is how I like it
- discovery of one's true identity
- badass fmc (I hope my review isn't hidden because I used a bad word, but that's the best way to describe Aurelia)
- shadow daddy
- stories of old meet reality
- vampires (not twilight vibes though, thankfully)

Oh I bet there's many more but these seemed the most important to me in the moment. Why don't you just read the book and maybe we can all add to the list? It's worth the read for so many more reasons and this debut novel is definitely one of the best ARCs I have received so far and I can't wait for book 2 in this series! Also I wouldn't eb too surprised if this book would be hounded down by a publisher and they'd give Kate an amazing book deal, maybe even a movie adaptation, who knows?

This book is great for fans of ACOTAR, the Serpent and the Wings of Night, Realm Breaker and Sorcery of Thorns! Happy Reading!!

🌶️

Gilmore Girls vibes all the way, only Jeanie doesn’t have a daughter and Logan is a sexy farmer!!🎉

The dynamics and the small town vibes are what make this book so utterly adorable and fluffy. Like I want to move to Dream Harbour and have what Jeanie has!! Let me just open my own Pumpkin Spice Café and be done with the big city life🥺

It’s cute and it’s a must read for fall!! ❤️

Yes there is a lot of smut in this book! My spice ratings are not as evolved yet but I'd give it a 3/5 on chilis. Really cute story, absolutely hate Aaron and love Nate (like how could you not). Very swoon worthy. Only thing that threw me off a bit was the pregnancy in the epilogue, but that was like 2.5 years after the the actual story, so it was like a cute finish to the story.

I absolutely fell in love with this book! this is the second in a series, but can be read as a standalone (that's what I accidentally did). perfect to get you into the holiday spirit and mope about not being in a relationship around christmas. I was a tad sad. Also, little Max > big Max forever!

There is zero spice!! Fade to black that kind of stuff. Other than that it was a cute romance that totally made me wish I had a boyfriend like Nathan. Men written by Sarah Adams are just *chefs kiss* minus the lack of smut of course. The miscommunication trope was throwing me off a bot in the beginning but then they're forced into a relationship!!!! ahhh, have fun reading

Cute. Quick and easy read. Nice way to look back on the series and get some new stories. Also shows Cardans tragic childhood.

No spice, although Alex Aster has said that she added like 8 pages of it. Very YA.
All in all, I loved the story. It's a whole lot of hunger games meets acotar. However, I think for a fantasy story like this, 800 pages in the whole book would have been more adequate. I would have loved more world building and getting to know the other characters a bit better, as some seem rather 2 dimensional. I'm looking very forward to the movie/series that will spring out of this, so I hope they will fill some of the plotholes... The story is very fast paced, so this was a quick enjoyable read, so I give it like 3.75 stars. Enjoy reading it!!!!
