This is not it. I don't know where in the editing process this book fell flat, but everything about it was wrong. The main character is a know it all/Mary Sue. Modern lingo is expressed relentlessly. Our MC refers to darker skinned people in a country that is not her own as 'terrorists' and had no ambition or desire to learn about them until one of them was hot.

I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher HarperCollins for an eARC of this novel.

Unfortunately this wasn't for me. The characters were okay, the romance was okay and the story itself was okay. I can definitely see how this would appeal to a greater audience, especially those that don't like fantasy or maybe want to dip their toes in it for a try.
