Everything I could have hoped for from a retelling of 'The Picture of Dorian Gray'. It was dark, it was moody, the characters were elusive and questionable, plus the added intrigue and mystery surrounding the school. I devoured this book and have definitely added Laura Steven to my list of authors to watch.

This book had an interesting premise but it felt so flat throughout that it wasn't engaging.
I wished her characters didn't feel so hollow. Their humour is supposed to be smart and witty, however it always feels forced and dry. Maybe it was supposed to be the tone of the book but everything felt this way.
The only positive I could give this book was the atmosphere. I loved the descriptions of what was happening around the characters. Leigh really knows how to write being in a musty room or the view outside of a window so I can feel, smell or even see it in my minds eye.
