It took me a while to get through this since life has been so hectic with graduation but I decided to get the audiobook for the second half and I’m so glad I did. The ending really tied things together and I’m glad with how it wrapped up. It’s a very short book and I would’ve liked to see more of this world.

This book is a masterpiece and I am currently wiping away my tears. It perfectly encapsulates the struggles of being a Black girl revolutionary in a space that ignores intersectionality and continues to subscribe to patriarchy despite calls for liberation. It addresses so many pressing issues like bodily autonomy, intersectionality, and navigating relationships. If I had this book back in high school, I could’ve been having these conversations a LOT sooner. I love this!

I read this for The Haitian Readathon and absolutely loved it. It’s the kind of book I wish was around when I was a kid. Debbie Rigaud is so great with wordplay and capturing a teen voice. Highly recommend!
Minor: Death
Death of a grandparent is referenced throughout.

This made me cry! I love how much growth we see in Zoe and her perspectives. The friendship and family relationships are explored beautifully. By the end of it, I couldn’t stop wiping my eyes.

I read this with a friend for a local book club. I didn’t end up finishing it in time for the book club meeting but I did enjoy it. The plot was great and I’m a sucker for books that are inspired by fairytales. My only qualm is that the pacing is quite slow so it took longer to get through. I listened along with the audiobook which helped (and the narrator was great!). The writing is quite lyrical and I felt like the characters were fleshed out well.
This was such a sweet graphic novel! I'm a sucker for grandparent/grandkid stories and this one definitely pulled at my heartstrings. One of my younger cousins had mentioned it prior to a book festival where Lily LaMotte was on a few panels. She got to meet Lily, take some pictures, and get a signed bookmark.
This was a very cute romance and I like how it leaned into the melodrama of the family feud. Brazilian culture was front and center in this story, which was also great. The discussion around gentrification was interesting. I would definitely recommend this to teen readers.

I saw this at my local library and decided to check it out, I'm pretty sure I've seen the cover floating around social media. This was a very cute read. I love the illustration style but I wish the story was a bit longer. My library classified this under YA but I think it's a graphic novel that could work for all ages, particularly middle grade.

I read this for my mythologies in Latinx literature course and thoroughly enjoyed it. I’ve been meaning to read Silvia Moreno-Garcia’s work and I’m glad I started with this one. I loved Casiopea and the plot moved along so quickly. Highly recommend for those who love a good quest fantasy.
This is easily, by far, the most accessible and fascinating piece of academic writing I've engaged with. I'm thankful I read this for my thesis and it will definitely impact my personal writing.
