This was such a fun time. A bit nonsensical, but fun all the same.

Have you ever read a book and thought, "is this author in my head”? Because that's exactly how I felt while reading Simone Breaks All the Rules. I related to Simone on so many levels. There were several moments where I cringed from second hand embarrassment, knowing full well that I'd done something similar when I was in high school.

The Haitian-ness of this story was off the charts. I loved the inclusion of Creole and the way Simone's struggles of being first-gen are portrayed. Even the names were extra Haitian. One of the characters even has my first name spelled the same way as me, talk about feeling SEEN.

I think this story would be perfect for younger teens and I'm planning on getting a copy for one of my cousins. It's a whole lot of fun and gave me some When Dimple Met Rishi vibes.

If you're looking for a cute, soft rom-com that's loaded with pop culture references, I'd definitely recommend this one.

This was a really fun, lighthearted read. I enjoyed the way that the love triangle was incorporated and the discussions toward the end about biphobia were really nice to see. It was great to read about a queer MC that didn’t have to go through a forced outing and the support of her friends and family was heartwarming.

Overall, this story is super predictable but that's to be expected with YA Contemporary romances. This is definitely one of those stories that would make a good beach or poolside read.

This is one of those books I went into knowing I'd enjoy but not realizing how much I would LOVE it. Now I just want to get a million and one copies for myself and my little cousins. This is the kind of book I wish existed when I was a kid. I loved how it balanced whimsy with this very serious issue and I can say that I was honestly surprised by the ending. This is one of those MG stories that parents will love as much (if not more than) their kids.

This book was so good! I was obsessed with Pretty Little Liars when I was younger and I haven't read a YA thriller since then that left me feeling the way that series did.... Until I picked up this book!

I love the way race and social commentary are incorporated and it was one of those stories that kept me on the edge of my seat, even when I'd guessed what would happen next. This was so fun.

This is one of the first books I learned about through Tik Tok and honestly, those crying videos are onto something. I absolutely loved this story and the world building was amazing. I'm just starting to get back into fantasy so there were a few bits that flew right over my head at the beginning but the way this story is written makes it really easy to follow. There are a lot of call backs to earlier events and everything is explained really thoroughly. Also, I'm a huge sucker for fond family and I loved that element in this story.

If you're into SLOW burn enemies to lovers then you'll probably enjoy this.

I really enjoyed this story. As a Haitian-American, a lot of this resonated with me and the descriptions of Jamaica made me want to go visit Haiti again. I also enjoyed how the more serious topics are addressed. I'd recommend this for ages 16 and up.

This book was so good! It's definitely going into my mental checklist of favorite romances. The DRAMA!! I loved every minute of it. It was like a telenovela in the way that things kept getting more and more wild as the story went on. The romance was steamy and the banter was wonderful. I love this book!
