Culty Mean Girls with a magical realism (almost sci-fi but not really) twist. I love how the characters are written, especially when they interact. It’s all so outrageous and a part of me might’ve loved reading this in my peak I’m Not Like Other Girls era. (I am definitely like other girls, but screw that Bunny book club to hell).

I read this book every year near winter and mark new annotations. I’d give so much to read it again for the first time.  Gorgeous writing and even more so the visuals. I love achilles and patroclus all I want is to know they are happy!

The writing is absolutely BEAUTIFUL, I loved how Huma Qureshi writes her scenes. Since it’s a short story collection, we get a lot of different openings and endings. I didn’t quite like some (low - 2/5) but there were stories that really hit me (high - 5/5). It is such a good read, and I want to see more of her work ASAP!

As a first foray into the mystery, whodunnit genre, it’s such a good place to start. So much love is put into each character and how they’re written. While I don’t agree with how all the characters acted or ended up becoming, they were still well written and added to the story (and there was A LOT of them).

When I tallied my scores for each of the stories, it added up exactly to 3/5 and I didn’t think that was fair. There were some blunders, with a low of 2/5, but I think the quality of the 5-star stories matter more. Not every story is gonna be a banger, but I think everyone will find a story that speak to them in this book. The stories are diverse, and not always a about straight-cut love. A lot of the time, love takes a back seat (but is still a main theme). Buy this book IMMEDIATELY. I’m so glad I read it (thank you to my friend who lent me her copy).

I need olivie blake’s writing injected directly into my veins. BUT, I’m not 100% alright with how they handled certain themes especially when it came to mental illness. Still a beautiful story with characters that felt real, like I could’ve known them.

A quick & easy read. It was great as a palette cleanser in between classes or before I went to bed. BEAUTIFUL concept and the characters felt real— like all of this was perfectly possible.

As someone who worries a great deal about time and regrets, this book was comforting. If you like stories about family and time-travel, this is it. I very much needed to lie down immediately after it ended.

I started this book with a healthy mental state and ended it with a relapse of my depression. I love the characters but absolutely hate what happens to them, and I loathe the author for their intention with the story. Overall, I’m not asking for a happily ever after, I wanted justification (though I guess that was her point). The writing is amazing and I enjoyed it, but the scenes at times were just too much— which was the point exactly.
