I didn't really feel connected to any character, nor did i feel like i was rooting for anyone or anything. There was one twist in the story and I found it really interesting, so no complaints. Overall, it wasn't the best mystery or thriller I've read but it wasn't the worst either. Nick was unfaithful and (kind of?) stupid and amy was too controlling. Not to mention how she has no regard for her family. Instead of doing the sensible thing and getting devorced, she pulled out this" frame my husband" thing and didn't care about other people who were affected. She framed nick's sister because for virtually no reason. Not to mention, her parents. I'm not really sure what i feel about them but they should have known their daughter was basically a psychopath. She tried to model herself after a book character which her parents named after. When she failed to do that, she took her frustation out on other people on multiple occasions, often destroying their lives in process.
This is not to say Nick is any better. He cheated on his wife which is disgusting. Again, if he was not happy with her and felt like their marriage was the wrong decision, he could have just gotten divorced. Saying that, "He was a better man when he was with Amy." is so wrong because he cheated on her while he was with her. And this was just a desperate reason to cling to his wife who is obviously abusive.
In the end, Amy again manipulates him by getting pregnant and that is a nasty tactic simply because she feels like she owns Nick or something.
I might have been a bit harsher on Amy than i was on Nick but that's just me.

My journey with Sarah J. Mass was short and I'm glad about that.
