The characters say each other’s names way too much! No one talks like that in real life.

I love when a heroine doesn’t have her shit together at all but still finds love.

This book is diiiiiirty. I’m surprised they sell it at Target. Thoughtful exploration of toxic masculinity though.

I think it’s weird that Piper didn’t get closure from her mom and step-dad at the end. Shouldn’t we have a scene where they tell her they’re proud of her?

I’d never heard of Helen Gurley Brown before. This book was a fascinating introduction to her career. I ate it up.

I loved Yinka, but I felt like the supporting characters weren’t really fleshed out.

I have always thought of Nora Ephron as a total badass, (suing Newsweek! celebrity journalism! feminist essays! oscar nominations for screenwriting! directing romcoms!) but this book made me see her in a softer, fuller way. The narrator’s voice is this interesting combination of pained and prideful, finnicky and free. It’s like she knew exactly what she wanted and she didn’t get it.
