Oh, this BOOK. It is just so damn good.
PEOPLE WE MEET IN VACATION is a super sweet, Friends To Lovers romance that unfolds in present time, as Poppy plans a vacation, and past vacations she took with her best friend, Alex.
The way Emily Henry lays out this story is clever and engaging from start to finish. I loved Poppy and her carefree spirit. Her friendship with buttoned-up, by-the-book Alex is funny and wonderful and so endearing.
We get to see these best friends support each other through the many ups and downs of youth and adulthood. There friendship is deep. Their chemistry is undeniable. And their story is one you will love and remember long after you finish the book.
The author tackles a few hard topics and does so with care and authenticity. I loved this story!
RATING:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
STEAM LEVEL: Rated PG-13
TRIGGERS: past bullying, pregnancy scare, parent death
FEELS-O-METER: 3/5 *So many feels you might tear up.
I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Okay, I *may* be getting a bit fan-girly obsessed with Sarah Adams now. This is my third read from her and I have loved every single book.
Like the other books by this author, THE TEMPORARY ROOMIE is laugh-out-loud funny, steamy even without sex, and super sweet! This is the author you turn to for a light, funny, rom-com!
Jess is the BEST female lead! I loved her so much! Smart and hilarious and cranky as hell! Her pranks against Drew were so fun to read. Drew is epically swoony and kind and the perfect solid counterpoint to Jess' flightiness. The chemistry between these two is INSANE.
This book got a little bit slow in the middle, with not a lot happening besides these two living in the same house and pranking each other. The pace picked back up towards 2/3 in.
THE TEMPORARY ROOMIE is the perfect Enemies-To-Lovers book to read when you want to have a break from life. I just freaking LOVE this book!
RATING:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2
STEAM LEVEL: Rated PG
TRIGGERS:parent abandonment, fatal car accident, break up as result of pregnancy
FEELS-O-METER: 2/5 *has a bit of drama, but still a light reas

Holy crap, was this book ever gross. I just could not believe the emotional abuse, controlling, and gas-lighting the male lead engaged in.
I feel actual physical anxiety that women might be reading this as a Romance. Any one of these behaviors would be a domestic abuse red flag. Here is just a sampling of the truly abusive dialog in this book...
MALE LEAD: “Text me, call me, leave me a note, whatever it takes, just tell me. You want to go out for lunch? No problem. Text me. You want to go shopping with the girls? Great. Spend all the fucking money you want, but tell me that’s where you’ll be. If you’re stopping to get gas before coming home? Let me know. Because I swear if you’re two minutes late I’m going to worry. I’m not being controlling, I’m not being an asshole. I’m worrying about you."
MALE LEAD INFORMING FEMALE LEAD THEY ARE MOVING IN TOGETHER: “...I’ll never love anyone else. I’ll never let you love anyone else. So you’re moving in. We might as well start the rest of our life now. We’ve missed enough time together. I’m not letting you spend another damn night in anyone’s bed but mine.” Cheyenne felt her insides melt. She pressed her lips together and tried not to cry. “I never thought I’d be here....In a relationship where I’d feel comfortable enough to let someone make these kinds of decision for me.
LEADS DISCUSSING ENTERING A BDSM SEXUAL RELATIONSHIP: This was really going to happen, and it was going to happen his way. Cheyenne tried not to hyperventilate. "Will I get a safe word?” (she asked) “Fuck no,” his response was immediate. "You don’t need a safe word."
Ladies, THIS. IS. ABUSE.
Please don't enter a relationship where a man makes major life decisions FOR you. Please don't enter a relationship where a man requires to know your whereabouts AT ALL TIMES. Please don't enter a relationship where a man says he won't "let you love anyone else". All of these things are abusive. This is NOT love.
I am ashamed at this author. I understand that sone women enjoy reading romance with an Alpha Male. I know there are BDSM relationships that are healthy and communicative. But this book glorifies abuse. It glorifies removing safe-words meant to protect ALL parties in a BDSM relationship. It glorifies controlling behaviors that mimic those characteristic of an abusive relationship.

Welp, I finally found it...a FANTASTIC novella compilation!
I am NOT generally a fan of novellas OR compilations. Are usually find Novelas too short to really get into the characters and compilations can often be a bit jarring as you move between offers and they are personal writing style. But SUMMER IN THE CITY made me a believer. AMEN!!!
Each story was well-written with interesting stories and exceptional back stories. I was so impressed. This is no slapdash novella trio. Each writer brought their own voice to their story, but these three novellas still blended together seamlessly.
Here is how I felt about each story included in this book.
NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM by Lori Wilde
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I loved this look at passion for art, the drive to succeed in business, and a sexy connection that has been simmering for months. My only nitpick was that the author explained the male lead's cologne THREE times in detail in a short novella.

LIGHTS OUT by Priscilla Oliveras
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The chemistry between these two leads was OFF. THE. CHARTS. Interestingly, I don't seem to connect as well with this author's full-length books, but LOVED this novella. This was a fun look at family traditions and passion for musical theater.

MIND GAMES by Sarah Skilton
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This author made a professional Magician hotter than hell. This is a magic trick in and of itself!

Can you say "characters acting out a Romance Novel's naughty sex scene"? Hot dayyyuuummmm...!
My kindle is still smoking from how hot that scene was. And I LAUGHED MY ASS OFF! This book was hilarious! But, in the end, it was just an okay read.
This book was a sort of Second Chance/Enemies to Lovers story, but it just didn't land with me. As I mentioned, the female lead is HILARIOUS. I continually snort-laughed. And the male lead is similarly likable (at first).
But there is a twist in this book that will be wildly problematic for most readers (and it was for me). After the twist is revealed this book goes on what is *intended* to be a journey of self discovery fir one if the main characters, but really just reads as filler. Nothing too meaningful happens, the reader just slogs through chapters and chapters and fluff until a very sudden ending in which that problematic twist is somehow, inexplicably, magically forgiven and forgotten.
This book had great characters and a very good start, but fell apart 2/3 in and never really recovered.
I received a gifted copy of this title in exchange for an honest review.
TRIGGERS: cheating parent, cheating, death of parent

So....here's the thing. This book is not a "Romance". Like, at all. It's Women's Fiction with a very scant romantic subplot.
A KISS FOR A KISS is entirely about an unexpected pregnancy and navigating the complexities that happen as a result. There is literally more time spent exploring every other personal relationship individually than there is spent on the romance between the leads.
We go from hot friends-with-benefits to pregnant to simply being emotionally present during the pregnancy. But there is a huge difference between being emotionally present/supportive and falling in love. And A KISS FOR A KISS does not (IMO) tell the story of these two lead characters falling in love.
If you want to read a feel-good story about later-in-life pregnancy and how it changes the relationships between two people and their families then this is a great book. If you are looking for a Surprise Pregnancy romance this ain't it.
Sad, but true.
RATING:⭐️⭐️⭐️
STEAM LEVEL: Rated PG-13
TRIGGERS: unplanned pregnancy, teenage pregnancy, infertility, past miscarriage, adoption, pregnancy complications
FEELS-O-METER: 3/5 Lots of emotional family drama and past trauma is covered

This is the first book I've read by this author and it does extremely well as a stand-alone. I didn't feel out of the loop for not having read the previous books in the series.
This book was well written, had a good story, and had great steamy scenes!! My pet peeve of Single Parent Romances is when the child is written to be an angel. Precocious and loving, with no tantrums. THIS "child" is a teenager and — HALLELUJAH! — is an actual teenager! Mood swings, eye rolls, and teen tantrums abound. And it's all written so well. It's realistic and it ADDS to the story.
The love story between Jaxon and Macy is a sweet as it is steamy. I loved that Macy is prone to overreact or panic at situations and Jaxon is a calm and steady influence.
This is great book for readers who love family ties, a hot sports hero, and steamy chemistry for days!!
