I love Jasmine Guillory, so I had high hopes for ππ¬ π§ππ ππ’π’π. But what this book turned out to be was Jasmine Guillory LIGHT.
ππ¬ π§ππ ππ’π’π is like weak tea: it's got the essence of something really good that was then significantly watered down.
The characters are watered down.
The conflict is watered down.
The dialog is watered down.
The enemies-to-lovers trope is watered down.
The humor is watered down.
The steam-level is watered down.
In the end, ππ¬ π§ππ ππ’π’π is not a bad read, it's just a bland read. It's not quite comedic enough to be a rom-com, not quite engaging enough to be a beach read, and not quite frothy enough to be a Hallmark movie.
I believe these issues are a result of Disney being behind this writing project. It may be exactly what some readers are looking for, but I'll stick with OG Jasmine Guillory from here on out.
π₯ππ§ππ‘π: βοΈβοΈβοΈ
π¦π§πππ πππ©ππ: Rated PG / Kissing and awareness that characters sleep together. Closed Door.
π§π₯πππππ₯π¦: parent estrangement
πππππ¦: 2/5 - A bit of drama, but still a pretty light read.
I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book had a slightly different vibe than Abby Jimenez's other books. It's a bit more grown up, but still has the hallmarks of this author's writing: funny, complex relationships, a cute animal or two, and ALL THE FEELS.
β β β β β β β β β
π£ππ₯π§ π’π π¬π’π¨π₯ πͺπ’π₯ππ is a May/December romance (the male lead being 10 years younger). And while it is a factor in this relationship, it isn't the ONLY factor, which I appreciated.
β β β β β β β β β
Alexis is an E.R. Doctor who comes from extreme wealth and privilege. Her one-night stand with a hot younger guy becomes a more drawn out arrangement. I loved that Alexis really seems to find herself in this story. She is smart and kind.
β β β β β β β β β
Daniel was perfectly perfect and (yes, I'm an asshole like this) it irked me a bit. The man has not one flaw. Not one moment of weakness or selfishness. His character sometimes feels like a prop to hold up the existential crisis and introspection that Alexis is going through.
β β β β β β β β β
But, listen, there are worse things than reading about a perfect man with perfect abs and a baby goat in pajamas.
β β β β β β β β β
π£ππ₯π§ π’π π¬π’π¨π₯ πͺπ’π₯ππ touches on family expectations, socio-economic chasms, emotional abuse, and claiming the life you want. It has laughs and serious moments. Steam and sweetness. Friendships you outgrow and forever friendships. You will not be able to put this book down once you start.

Can I give this book more than 5-stars? Because...oh, my heart! I liked Beach Read, really liked People We Meet On Vacation, but I absolutely obsessively loved BOOK LOVERS.
Emily Henry has perfectly written this small town, enemies-to-lovers, all the feels, beautiful story! I feel like I know each and every character in this book, no matter how small.
Nora is such a wonderfully complex character. She is tough and smart. Rigid and hard-working. Loyal and driven. The relationship between her and her younger sister is EVERYTHING. Their communication had me snort-laughing more than once and their sibling relationship was beautiful and complicated.
Charlie and Nora have pitch perfect hate-banter at the beginning of this story and achingly swoony moments towards the end. Charlie is so solid and straight-laced and wonderful.
BOOK LOVERS has everything I want in a book. Complexity, humor, sweetness, character growth, grief, healing, steam (ahem!), and a happily-ever-after that left me contentedly sighing and grinning.
β β β β β β β β β
The beauty of this story, for me, is the realness of the writing. Nothing is glossed over and tied neatly into a bow. Real life, with all of its mess, is woven into this every page. That is my favorite kind of book. I want to read a story in which there is no clear path forward, no black-and-white solution to every conflict. There is just life's truth shining through the fiction.
Do yourself a favor and just one-click purchase BOOK LOVERS and then prepare yourself to devour it in one sitting. You can thank me later!

I have 3 words for you: Pool Table Sex
Do I even need to continue this review? I gave this book 5-STARS and there is Pool Table Sex. That's a one-click buy, bitches!
Okay, okay. I'll keep going.
BEAUTY AND THE BALLER has everything I need. Enemies-to-Lovers, fake relationship, ex pro-sports player with a hot body, strong female lead, autism representation, snort-laughs, love, loss, healing, family, small town.....EVERYTHING. Wait...did I mention the Pool Table Sex?
Nova is hilarious and hardworking and so damn likable. I adored her character! And Ronan is so swoony. A true cinnamon roll hero who is dealing with grief and job pressure and a small town who is all up in his business. I loved Nova and Ronan together so much! And their steamy scenes are H-O-T. I am still blushing! I don't remember if I've mentioned this, but POOL TABLE SEX.
BEAUTY AND THE BALLER gets a very enthusiastic 5-STARS from me and, as you know, I am a stingy star bitch. This book can, at times, read a little slow, but keep reading because it is so, so, SO good!
RATING:βοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈ
STEAM LEVEL: Rated NC-17 / 5+ sex scenes, harsh language. *MIGHT* include props/bondage.
TRIGGERS: past fatal car accident, cheating ex, past death of parent
FEELS-O-METER: 3/5 - So many feels you might tear up a little.

Sadly, this book had a promising premise, but really fell flat for me.
A lot of the plot lines in THE UN-ARRANGED MARRIAGE felt very unlikely. That these two characters and their families have been tight knit for 32 years, including the leads sharing ALL of their childhood birthday parties, and Mark had NO IDEA that Shaina couldn't hear? Ummmm....nope.
I also found both of the leads to be very unlikable.
I DID love the representation of deafness with Shaina. It was handled well. But otherwise I found her incredibly immature. What 32 year old is still mad at her older brother for a wrong answer he gave her for a test when they were kids? Shaina has a degree in psychology and can't get past childhood sibling rivalry?
Again, I really like the representation of Demisexuality with Mark. But, he too, was mostly unlikable. I almost put down this book to DNF at least 10 times. But I ended up trudging through and things never really got better for me.
Besides the main characters every other character in this book is wildly unlikable. Both sets of parents are awful. All of the cousins and family friends are gossipy, petty, and emotionally immature. I don't know any 30-somethings who act like this.
I wanted to like THE UN-ARRANGED MARRIAGE, but the representation of deafness and demisexuality were the only good points for me.

I really love it when romance takes me into a world I haven't been before, no matter how mundane it may seem on the surface. π ππ₯π¨π¦π πͺππ§π ππ’π©π takes place in the world of Dental school and I loved this setting! And the slow burn between Harper and Dan is torture (in the best way, obvi).
π ππ₯π¨π¦π πͺππ§π ππ’π©π starts with a hilariously awkward Meet Cute and just gets better from there! Harper is such a complex female lead. She is driven, smart, passionate, and (sometimes) wonderfully awkward.
Dan is so swoony! I actually found him a little TOO perfect. I wish his character had some flaws besides wanting to make his family happy (is that even a flaw?).
π ππ₯π¨π¦π πͺππ§π ππ’π©π does a great job of tackling some more serious issues like loss, anxiety, familial expectations, and complex friendships. This book also reps seeking professional therapy, which I always love.
I took off one star because of the perfection of Dan and because after the meet cute the story slows considerably. The pace doesn't pick back up until about half way through. These things aren't deal breakers at all though. I loved π ππ₯π¨π¦π πͺππ§π ππ’π©π and definitely recommend it!
RATING:βοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈ
STEAM LEVEL: Rated R / 1-4 descriptive sex scenes, may have harsh language.

FEELS-O-METER: 4/5 - Tackled some seriously tough topics.

When the book promises you steam and then closes the door in your face. GAH!
Listen, I loved ππ¬ ππ‘π¬ π’π§πππ₯ π‘ππ π! Loved. It. HOWEVER...There is a lot of sexual dialog in this book from the lead female, her friends, and her family. It got me all revved up for some steamy scenes. Then I got....a single kiss. What the WHA???! Don't tease me like this!
Lanie is such a sweet character. She is a bit starry-eyed about love and I loved going on the journey with her as she realized that real love was a bit different than she first thought it was. She is gutsy and smart and a nerdy bibliophile. So much to love about this character!
Noah is just perfectly swoony. I loved the pull between his more serious side and the light-hearted banter between him and Lanie. He has a wonderful backstory and it adds so much to this book!
The foundation of this relationship was emails exchanged between Lanie and Noah over the course of seven years. And, sadly, the author spends almost no time exploring that really pivotal foundation. I really wished this book had fewer pages dedicated to Lanie's life and relationship pre-Meet-Cute and more background on these wonderful email exchanges. It was the swooniest part of this love story and the reader gets short-changed.
Even with those minor issues I really liked this book. The glimpses into the world of a romance editor and the publicity that goes along with modern publishing was really fun to read! ππ¬ ππ‘π¬ π’π§πππ₯ π‘ππ π will make you laugh and maybe tear up a bit. It will make you consider taking chances and redefining what true love is. It will also give you the female version of Blue Balls, which I like to call Cranky Cootch (should I trademark this?).
If you are looking for a low-steam read that will make you believe in love then you'll want to add ππ¬ ππ‘π¬ π’π§πππ₯ π‘ππ π to your TBR!

Holy hot rain make-out, Batman! Y'all, I really liked the first book in this series (It Happened One Summer), but I effing LOVE this book.
ππ’π’π, πππ‘π, ππ‘π π¦ππ‘πππ₯ is everything. A reformed rake. A sweet female lead who is coming into her own. Complex family relationships. Slow burn. Heaps of sexual tension and chemistry. Freaking hot steamy scenes. I just loved this book. Hard.
Hannah is a perfectly relatable female lead who is supportive of everyone else in her life, but struggles to take charge of her own life and put her needs first. She is passionate about music and has worked hard to put herself in a position to help work on music for a major motion picture....if she can get over her impostor syndrome and speak up for herself.
Fox is so epically swoony. He is just a shallow man-whore on the surface, but we get to see the real him as the book unfolds. His own insecurities play a major part in his story and I loved his character. You just want to hug him and bone him at the same time. I especially loved Fox's mother. She is a ball-buster and very flawed, but so lovable and she gets her own character arc, despite being a fairly small character in the book.
ππ’π’π, πππ‘π, ππ‘π π¦ππ‘πππ₯ has laugh-out-loud moments, but also ALL THE FEELS. I might have teared up a bit. Okay, I did tear up a bit. Fox and Hannah are one of those book couples that you desperately invested in. Not just, "awwwwβwhat a cute love story" and more "if these two don't get over their issues and make it work I may never recover.
ππ’π’π, πππ‘π, ππ‘π π¦ππ‘πππ₯ starts with their ultra-sweet texting and ends with an HEA that will have you smiling and swooning. And don't forget some serious melt-yo-kindle scenes in there too.
Seriously, this is one of the best books I've read in a while and I am sure I will be re-reading it sometime in the future. It's just so damn good.

π§ππ π₯ππ¨π‘ππ’π‘ follows 3 siblings as they converge in their hometown to plan an Anniversary party for their parents. And there is DRAAAAMMMMAAAA! This family has slowly drifted apart over the previous 10-ish years and we get a front row seat to the siblings trying to plan this important party while fighting like only siblings can. As the story unfolds we also see each sibling connect with people from their past and fall in love.
β β β β β β β β β
The six POVs are the three siblings and their three love interests. Here's the thing, the timeline is the same, so this means there is a constant switching of POVs. I personally found this jarring. I appreciate the writing skills this takes, but it was a bit whiplash-y for me. In fact, I'm just gunna admit right now that at one point I finished a chapter and when the POV changed I skipped forward until I found the continuation of that couple's story and then backtracked afterwards. You can't get me all riled up that two characters are finally gunna bone and then switch the POV! My horniness will not allow it!
β β β β β β β β β
As you can imagine, π§ππ π₯ππ¨π‘ππ’π‘ can be a bit heavy. But Meghan Quinn does a wonderful job of showing all sides of this complicated family relationship and writes family tension truthfully. And each love story is fantastic. I loved them all.

π§ππ π₯ππ¨π‘ππ’π‘ is a great read that covers love, loss, family relationships, healing, and positively reps Therapy (yay!). If you can get behind the 6 POVs then you will love it! I'm giving it 3-1/2 stars because the changing POVs really hindered my enjoyment of the book. I think I would have preferred this be a collection of 3 novellas (back to back) which cover the same month.

I can always trust Karla Sorensen books to be a great read for me. She writes smart females, all the feels, and great steamy scenes.
π§ππ π£πππ‘ is a great read with ALL of those things. Lydia is an Internet Influencer whose fame has risen to the point where she is hounded by paparazzi. After an accident leves Lydia shaken and experiencing Anxiety Attacks, she needs a bodyguard. Enter super-grumpy, former Pro Football player, Erik. The Grumpy + Sunshine in this book is perfection! I love Erik and his grumpy ass.
These two have a bit of an age difference (hello, forbidden love!) and the chemistry and the sizzle is palpable. I loved this relationship. So swoony!
Erik's overbearing family is a delight in this book, even his jerky brother. You will fall in love with the entire clan. This book is a slow burn (which I love), but the second half got a bit too slow for me. The love story stalled a bit, which is why I removed a star. But π§ππ π£πππ‘ is absolutely great and you should definitely add it to your TBR.
