Elevation by Stephen King
2.0
A short but unfulfilling read
This story had some really cute moments but the plot wasn't really there. We knew the basics but there were some big plot holes and special moments that were skimmed right over. Scott finds himself questioning some of his town's social norms when he realizes his lesbian next-door neighbors are being miss treated solely on who they chose to love. As he learns more about them as a couple he starts to question his town's ideals. I wish King would have gone deeper into Scott's thought process on this idea because it was a consistent lesson being taught in the book that wasn't capitalized on. The ending that was chosen for our main character was interesting but I think it lacked an explanation for why that had to be the ending. It seemed like a decision that would have been enjoyable to read Scott make. An epilogue of where Scott ended after he became weight loss or some of the character's lives after would have helped close this book better.

Astrophysics for People in a Hurry by Neil deGrasse Tyson
3.0
An informative, slightly hilarious read on astrophysics.
Many areas of this book were broken down to a basic understanding of astrophysics. This allowed me to understand the topic without a background in astrophysics. Other parts of the book would have been more easily understood if there were some basic definitions explained. Overall the book was fun, I would recommend it to a friend, and I was surprised that I was laughing at ASTROPHYSICS.
