There was nothing wrong with the content, I just realized the further I read more I didn’t connect with it. It is written in a way that’s very easy to read and I do appreciate all of the examples within the book. It just wasn’t for me.

Thanks to the publisher for providing an advanced reading copy of this one. Truly a masterclass in how easy it is to fall for a gaslighting, love bombing, sociopath even when you’re an intelligent woman. This is easily one of Jewell’s most captivating plots yet and I can’t wait to personally recommend it to others after it publishes! Always love her epilogues but this one was just SO satisfying.

I loved the premise of this one more than the book itself. The tension of the book was consistent throughout the book. For a horror/ thriller novel this is usually a good thing, but in this case it felt monotonous.
I also didn’t enjoy the ending. What was the deal that Sol made with the neighbor? Was it to protect Alice? It was majorly off putting to see Sol put her values aside after spending the whole novel searching for ways to get to the root of the evil nature of the neighborhood. Then all of a sudden she’s coming up with ways for it to infect Yale? Disappointing to say the least.
I don’t think I’ll be recommending this one. It did what Stepford Wives by Ira Levin achieved but in twice as many pages. And I was so excited for a gay Stepford Wives when I started!!
