The idea behind the book sounded good and after reading the Prologue, it still sounded promising. After that, it all went downhill... The storyline was choppy and didn't flow well, which made it difficult to follow and understand. The majority of the book was beyond confusing and when I did grasp the story, it got confusing all over again.

There were many characters introduced which made it hard to keep track of who was who and who was narrating the story.

The trauma the girls experienced in their past was hardly mentioned and it took over 60% of the book to tell us what happened (would have preferred if it was mentioned earlier on in the book and why they got to where they were).

It felt like the characters spent most of their time in an apartment/hotel, market or restaurant eating throughout the book and when they weren't, they were in the Between hiding. It looked like the author was struggling to find ideas to fill up the story so she kept going back to food and hiding as a filler. Also, the love interest was bland and boring, there was no spark, felt rushed, just wasn't there.

The only thing that deserves 5 stars is the cover, I do agree with everyone else, it is STUNNING!!

3.5 out of 5 stars

Enjoyed this more than I thought I would. Never really gravitated towards witchy or witch related books but truly enjoyed this book.

I can see the good in this book but at this moment in time, it wasn't for me. I will definitely give this book a reread when I have more time to process what's going on in the book since there is a lot going on.

There are multiple storylines happening throughout the story which made it hard to follow (they do come together in the end). Also, there are many characters introduced, other than the core main characters, most characters were not memorable. When they came back to later chapters, I was asking myself "Who is this?". If I were you, I'd write down who is who and what they do and such while reading.

Alas, there were a lot of amazing parts. Parts that were intense and exciting. Twists and turns. Only thing is, I wish this book were 100 pages less. It was far too long for an introduction book. Was bombarded with too much unnecessary information.

This was something weirdly, stupid amazing! Right up my alley. Betty is by far my favourite Rat Queen (and this is only Volume 1).

This wasn't weird compared to Volume 1 which is why I loved it. It was still good but it was all over the place, from present day to past back to present. I will be continuing with the series because it still has my attention and I want to know what happens.

3.5 out of 5 stars

The first half of this book felt like the "second- book syndrome" where nothing happened and I was super bored. This is the reason why this book is getting under and 4 star rating. The second half of this book was amazing. And if the book was intense throughout the whole book, it would have gotten well beyond a 4 stars.

I loved Elias in books 1 and 2 but did not understand his purpose in book 3. I never looked forward to reading his point-of-view in this book.

Alas, I never liked Helene/Blood Shrike in book 1 and 2 and the beginning of book 3 but ended up loving! her by the end of this book.

As much I didn't like reading about the scenes where the Commandant made an appearance in past books, she was hardly mentioned in this one (or so it felt). She made the story more intense when she made an appearance.

I don't have much to say about Laia because I want to see where her story goes.

Since book 1, I could not! stand Marcus. Most hated character in this series.

3.75 out of 5 stars

Not as good as Evelyn Hugo or Daisy Jones but still fun and enjoyable
