I didn’t even like this book, but I had to finish it because i was already invested in what in the heck Area X WAS…. So from that standpoint, it’s a very good book. Others will also enjoy author’s characters, treatment of unfolding this final part of the trilogy, and the author’s writing.

Disturbing…. And so well written/translated. And so disturbing. And so un-put-downable. I’ll be thinking about this book for weeks.

Fabulous read from a master of participatory journalism that also shines a light into the divisiveness of the times in the last chapter. The middle lagged a bit for me, but it was well worth sticking in there to get to the heart of the book and the changes wrought by COVID.

A phenomenal collection of essays on loss, grief and travel, extremely well written and excellently told. While the subject matter could lead itself to moroseness, I found instead the author’s voice, ideas and exploration clarifying. A must-read for anyone who’s ever moved through complicated grief, and for anyone who thrills at great nonfiction writing no matter the subject.
