I usually do not mind larger books, in fact I usually prefer them , but this book was to drawn out and way too long. I felt like this could have definitely been closer to 300 pages and you could get the same story. This book doesn't get interesting until about page 250. I really was incredibly bored and would have probably not finished the book if I didn't have to read this book for a book club I am in.

Another thing that knocked down a star for me was the writing. I am personally not a fan of this writing style. While there are some beautiful lines, I felt like he told you very small details that weren't really necessary , but then I would have go back and read again because he hides important details.

This book also deals with a heavy concept, so it is a book that you have to take your time with when reading. The only reason that I gave this book 3 stars and not 2. Is because it did grab my attention in the last 200 pages. I wanted to know what happened to these characters and where they ended up and that really is the only thing that made this book semi interesting.
