Somber. Amusing. Adorable.
This book is about a man who sees the world very black-and-white. He is honest to a fault and believes the world is better when people work hard, follow the rules, and take ownership over their problems.
I've known quite a few people who were similar to Ove and I couldn't help but laugh at some of his thoughts and comments. Yes, he can seem grouchy or come across as cold, but he just shows how he cares differently and really he didn't judge people for things out of their control.
Also, I thought Ove's wife had such a beautiful mindset, great personality and wonderful attitude. She was such a beautiful character!
I thought this story was really well done, absolutely adorable and just a wonderful laugh. I would highly recommend!!
I also enjoyed Blackman's Anxious People, but this one is easily my favourite!

Even-paced. Consistent. Hazy.
About a quarter of the way in I was worried this was just a crazy-woman trope with the mother being delusional and so on, so I was happy when it leaned another way and came to the twist of an ending.
The twist wasn't necessarily huge, but worked well with the pace and characters. I ended up understanding and empathasing with the character's. There could have been more of an ending, the book was almost hazy in that it's kind of a whirlwind, but it explained everything well.
This was a very quick read! I read this in about 2.5 hours as it's only 270 pages, and the way the chapters are caused a lot of blank pages, with easy language and a consistent pace.
If you like Woman in the Window by A.J. Flynn or Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins, I would recommend this one, or vice versa!

Guilt. Regret. Change.
This was a beautiful story of family, choices, regrets, guilt, and learning to let go. Hannah really wove these characters' stories together to create a full and well-rounded generational saga from great-grandparents to grandkids.
This story was emotional, captivating and difficult to read. The sisters are trying to discover who they are after their father passes, and it occurs through two timelines: WWII Russia and current day USA.
This was done beautifully, with a complete and satisfying ending, made even more sure by the epilogue. This was a great read, although sad through many pieces.
I highly recommend! I've also read The Great Alone and The Nightingale, and all three of these have been absolutely breathtaking!

Mystery. Trauma. Revenge.
Sager has a knack for creating a story and giving you bits at a time to keep you enthralled and on the edge of your seat. This was no exception! It definitely had me gripped and I wanted to know how it ended, but it was a little slower than his others for me.
This one built to a fairly large twist that was slowly pieced together throughout the book. It mostly takes place at a summer camp and discovering the history of the place, the others, and the potential answer to what happened to three missing girls 15 years ago, definitely doesn't let you put the book down. Being at a summer camp definitely makes it a good summer thriller!
In comparison to the other two books I've read by him, it was slower and the twist was less shocking, so I rank it below the other two by him, however, as a thriller this is still an amazing book!! Sager truly has a gift for writing captivating and gripping stories with pieces that connect in a way you don't see coming!
