Easy. Light. Expectant.
Chevalier writes about Violet, a middle aged, single woman, who experienced much loss in her four decades of life. Taking place in 1932, the world is coping with one war, anxious about the potential of another. The drama pulls you in and makes you feel for the characters, hoping for a wonderful outcome. Chevalier's light tone and flowing pace is a refreshing, hopeful story. Chevalier brings the reader to a different time with different norms and lightly describes the views of society then. I would recommend to someone looking for a nice, endearing read that takes you back in time.

Intriguing. Psychological. Dark.
Michaelides creates a world of dark, suspenseful intrigue. The book has a slow pace, building a thorough story. His intricate details playing off each other to create a full-rounded psychological thriller. The slow pace added to the finale in which he turns the details into another picture. This book amplified many questions of how one copes with childhood trauma and haunting realities of the past. A quick read with an enjoyable plot.

New. Interesting. Hesitation.
I have read many of Baldacci's works as he was a favourite all through high school. His books leave you grasping the pages and wanting to know what comes next. This book was no different. Introducing a new character, he changes from contemporary, as this takes us back to a time after WWII. The new character is dynamic, quiet, reserved and humble. Admitting his own flaws, he has to overcome a difficult situation to enjoy his newly found freedom. The twists are enjoyable and, unlike his other books, I found myself pausing to see if I could discern the ending. I look forward to see if this character returns!

Refreshing. Thought provoking. Enjoyable.
This was highly enjoyable. I picked it up and did not put it down until it was done. Although short, Albom forces you to think, to analyze, and to reassess so many aspects of your life. Albom was specific about his intentions and yet vague and unassuming toward your own life or how the reader would apply its principles. I am sure I'll pick it up again to read, and grabbed another of his from the library too. Definitely recommend!

Curious. Shocking. Intrigued.
Michelle is a powerful woman. Not in the control, connections or national way, but in the power of being confident, having a support group and knowing her worth. She is the kind of woman many - and rightfully so - look up to and admire.
I didn't know much about her before I picked up this book, but after finishing it, I am simply in awe. Her parents also astounded me. Her story and the way she told it, despite many struggles others - myself included - have never faced, did not ask for sympathy or pity. She told her story, described her doubts, her successes, and her difficulties with an appreciation. Her words are inspiring in a subtle way. A true testament to what devotion, sacrifice and sticking to your values can accomplish.
This book opened my eyes to many things - the everyday struggle of black people in America and other similar countries, the inequality toward women across the world, the difficulties of soldiers upon their return to their families, grief, loss, and more subtle things such as the lack of privacy and life shift once her husband was elected as president.
I cannot express everything this book made me feel, ponder, or question. This is truly an amazing work by a very talented and inspiring woman.

Reminiscent. Somber. Wistful.
Serle brings the reader through the protagonist's life through the discussion of six people at dinner. The character is forced to face her reality and come to terms with events in her life over the dinner table, surrounded in five people who signify parts of her life. The book was well-written and makes the reader feel what the character feels as she moves through.
My hang up with this book was that I couldn't connect to the best friend. She was rough when she should have been loving and strict rather than understanding, but talked about like a caring, loving person, and I didn't get that feel. Best friend aside, the other characters were full, rounded people letting you feel as if you were the seventh at the table.

Fast-paced. Suspense. Passionate.
Steve Berry did it again! I have read many of his works, mostly including his character Cotton Malone. This book, like the others in the series, was fast-paced, with multiple points of view, eventually connecting to create an intertwined suspense of good versus bad. Berry's passion for suspense keeps you turning pages and devouring the story with high expectation - which is certainly met.

Interesting. Convoluted. Lawlessness.
Coben created characters with much depth and fullness. This work is enjoyable and entertaining, but less suspenseful than expected.
I thought this book would be different after reading the synopsis. There seemed to be some gaps between the write-up and the story. The twists were pretty obvious and foreseeable, but didn't ruin the book, just took away from the suspense. The story was still captivating, and I wanted to know how the pieces played out together.
Also, Coben put emphasis on parts of the characters' stories that didn't pertain to the plot specifically in any way. I figured this book was part of a series, which would account for the extra character development, but this is a standalone work. It felt as if 'additional pieces' were included to provide depth, but didn't add much to the story, mystery, suspense or enjoyment. Overall, I liked it, and I would pick up another Coben book, but rhis work had potential to be more enthralling.
Let me know what you thought! I have a lot of thoughts but don't want to give any spoilers!

Heartbreaking. Grief. Continuous.
I had high expectations after reading Paris' Behind Closed Doors. Halfway through this book I was curious about whether it would pick up... But it did! And it was excellent!
This book brings the reader through the lives of a fairly ordinary family. Slowly through both spouses perceptions of the day, hour by hour, as the contemplate and struggle with their dilemmas, wondering what actions are best to take. This family was fairly average, adding to the devestation that grips them. As a reader, you are brought along with the characters on this emotional journey, feeling for them and grieving with them. This was a wonderful read, although heart-wrenching. It shows how powerful support and love are to others, especially in times of need, because life always goes on, and having others with you makes it better.
I am looking forward to picking up another by BA Paris! Let me know what you thought of this one!

Psychological. Twisted. Disturbing.
This was my first read by Constantine and probably my only for a while. It was an enjoyable read, however, I figured I knew most of the ending by about a third of the way in and I had guessed the two biggest pieces correctly.
There were times when it seemed overdone, the plot more complicated than it needed to be, to be entertaining, and extra flashbacks to emphasize small pieces. Overall it was okay, but it kind of fell flat. The characters all don't really trust each other or like each other which makes the reader put-off and not hooked into the story as much.
I liked the multiple perspectives, it added an extra element to the story that kept the pace up.
It had suspense, bits of thrill, and mystery from start to finish, it was just not written in a way that kept me captivated entirely.
