A quick read and it's quite fun, the characters were a bit flat especially the side characters. 
But if you are looking for a quick read with a mysterious aspect this book is definitely an option.

It is a little bit nostalgic but I wouldn't read it to a kid again. And definitely far from Cornelia Funkes best Work, even if we just take the kids books in to account.
