FRICK

starting the year off on a high note by ending a series that I've come to really love

Ok, I'm struggling because is this series objectively good? NOOOO. Do I have fun reading it? YES. Will I pre-order the third book coming out in 2021? PROBS.

For me, book #2 was so much more fun and eventful than book #1, and I felt like a lot of the pacing issues I experienced early on were more resolved - hence the higher rating. This is one of those things I'm rating solely on my enjoyment, not because I feel like this book has even an ounce of literary merit (like, at all). It's weird to be so annoyed by something and so attached to something in equal measure. I grew up on fantasy, and it's fun as an adult to be re-introduced to the genre and try to discover where my niche is. I'm not sure if indie-published fantasy romance is it, but until I figure that out, I'm here for it.
