It's important to note that this book takes place over 3-4 days, the first half of this book being just one day. The main character, Willow, seemed quite repetitive in her complaints and Byron must've been as thick as a brick to not see that Willow thought of him as a rival. I really wish more of this world could've been built, it all felt a bit lacking in detail, but I still had an enjoyable read.

Hate J.K. Rowling with a burning passion. She did write a nice series, if you ignore the plot holes.

I really didn't like Irene MacAskill. The book could have progressed perfectly well without her character being so prominent and her character ultimately lead the story to being more "tell", less "show".

Plus Darcy, our FMC, really didn't seem to have much development. It's hard to describe without spoiling but I wouldn't really recommend.

Two stars because I am a sucker for historical romances.

Dark romance really isn't my thing so I thought trying out something short would let me get a better understanding on if I wanted to read more but I still hold the same opinion as before. I gave it a half star simply because it did use more developed language that newer books often struggle to incorporate.

Was really hoping I could like this book, given there is a trans MC. Maybe it was how the characters' personalities felt inconsistent or lack of depth to many of the supporting characters but I just couldn't get into it much.

I did really like how the author portrayed the MC's experience with being trans though. I could relate a lot to the MC in that way.

Read in one sitting and I'm honestly surprised at how nice this was. Whilst it is a glorified wattpad book, with it's repetition of particular phases often stemming from a more limited vocabulary, it does showcase the lack of respect and representation of women in sports.

She's the Man paved the way for this conversation of women in sport and I'm glad it was brought to the hockey scene in Just One of the Boys (and many other pieces of media and such), even though it's just a short romance novel. Now with the PWHL set in motion, maybe Alice can have her big moment in the professional league.

As a trans man, this was a lovely short story. Already preordered the next book!

I feel sick but in the best way possible. Delightfully eerie and uncomfortable. Highly suggest reading the second short story in this book, if you read any at all.

Never been a fan of first person narration, but I do love hockey. It felt very much like published fanfiction, although more the wattpad variety compared to ao3.
