3.5 stars. I actively enjoyed reading this. I considered giving it 4 stars, but I never had a moment where I was completely shocked (and trying to think back on the details to find the little foreshadowing) like I like to have in a good thriller. Overall I enjoyed it, and I’m not mad at it, but it’s not going on my favorites of the year.

I was a little apprehensive about another domestic thriller, but I actually loved this one! The end gave me literal chills. Highly recommend.

I liked the story, and the writing. But it felt rushed...because it was. This should have been a full length novel. It would have done it more justice. Still love these ladies, looking forward to more from them.

This was right up my alley. As a super fan of true crime, I was sucked in at the summary. I’m amazed at Gillian Flynn’s ability to come up with this convoluted plot. How does her brain work? I went from hating the protagonist, full circle to loving her and relating to her. Libby was such a human character, which I appreciate. No one is perfect people! Fully enjoyed this, highly recommend.

I’m giving this 3.5 stars. I enjoyed it. I love the premise, and the idea of “owning” the universe with alchemy by controlling math and language. But I wasn’t so enthralled that I couldn’t put it down. I wanted to be moved by my love of the characters, and I found myself less invested than I thought I would be. It didn’t make me feel “the feels”. But that said, it’s a different perspective, ingenious, and thought provoking.

This was my first book by this author. I thought the characters had a great depth and were very relatable. I never actively wanted to stop reading. It was poignant, and refreshing at the same time. I love love loved the ending! But I wish the last reveal went more in depth. I want to know where these characters go from here. All around, an interesting concept and well done! Definitely want to read more from this author.
