Comparing it to The Huger Games is injustice to this book!

Red rising is the best dystopian novel I have read to this day. The world building is detailed and throughout, and theres enough of backstories. Often with these kind of novels, they lack a backstory to how the world became that way.

I must say though I do miss a more detailed description of the technology and homemade words used. It makes the first 100 pages pure confusement as you don't know half of the words. But as you get into the story, it is not really a bother.

I love how the universe gets bigger as we read on about Darrow. At the beginning I thought I had to wait a good half of the book before he got out of Lykos. But the process of getting to the surface is rather quick and free of boredom.

Theres no sugar coating here. We face all of the Society's brutality head on, and the problem feels more real. Theres not one evil mastermind, like in many other dystopian novels, but Darrows wrath goes in all directions and cannot be pin-pointed to one specific person. With is often how rebellions work.

There are two kinds of guilt. The kind that's a burden and the kind that gives you purpose. Let your guilt be your fuel. Let it remind you of who you want to be.
