This book was one of the heaviest books I have read in a while. Not only is the topic of the book a sad topic, but the story its self reflects it. Bruno is so innocent to what is going on around him, that this is what the book revolves around. A nine year old boy trying to understand his life and the boy on the other side of the fence. The book gives us the perspective we have barley seen, a young German boy, unware of the evil around him. We get to see how hate isn't born in us, it's taught. The book makes the lesson of differences and being loving to one another impact full.
