The Do-Over by Sharon M. Peterson

**Thank you to Netgalley & Bookouture for the E-ARC in exchange for an honest review**
I picked this book up excepting a fun romance, but it was so much more than that.
the book opens with Perci getting dumped over the radio. sucks, right? so she makes a plan to not date. of course, this is intriguing in it of itself, and that part of the plot was phenomenal — laugh out loud worthy sometimes too.
but not only is there a perfect amount of romantic comedy in this book, there’s a perfect amount of character development as well. Perci, as a plus-sized woman, learns to love herself for who she is, and I was cheering for her for the entirety of this book. It was so wonderful to see her accept and love herself as much as I loved her as a reader.
and of course, i can’t write this review without mentioning Lilah. this little girl was an absolute ray of sunshine!! i miss her already.
The Do-Over is the perfect amount of romantic and heart-warming and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

although i felt this book started out slow, it really picked up. and once it did, i was really enjoying it! i loved reading the little bits of banter between Melanie and Nick. i LOVED the bets. i love a good single parent trope. the writing was great, although sometimes it was confusing to me which POV i was reading — but i was able to quickly figure it out.
they’ve known each other since they were kids, but they haven’t spoken in twenty something years and already feel some kind of attraction/feelings for each other? it was cute, and i liked it, but it felt kind of fast! would have liked if it was a little slower of a buildup — but i still enjoyed it.
overall, i recommend this book! it was such a fun read. i just wish the pacing was a bit better in the beginning.

I didn't hate this one, but I'm not sure I really liked it either. I honestly thought I would love it. It seemed to have everything I look for in a book -- and it gave me Unhoneymooners vibes, which is such a good read! However, a lot of this book fell flat.
The writing style made a lot of the plot feel rushed, but also too drawn out at the same time. I didn't like that it took almost 50% in to get to the point of the plot that I had been waiting for (which is also what it's advertised for) and I just feel like a lot of the beginning wasn't necessary. Once it hit the 50% mark, I was enjoying it, but then it felt rushed. I feel like I wanted to see more, but it was more like the author was just telling instead of showing. It also was very insta-lovey, which personally, is not a favorite trope of mine.
there were also a few comments regarding the lgbtq+ community. They seem like they were meant to be jokes, but they really fell flat for me and kind of rubbed me the wrong way.
also (mini spoiler alert!) her ex kissing & feeling her up out of the blue when she comes home?? HATED that!
I did like the plot. It was fun, and it had a lot of potential!! The ending was really cute too.
I don't think this is a bad book. It just wasn't really the book for me.

oh. my. gosh. i got this book THIS MORNING and i literally just finished it 20 minutes ago. it was so cute!!! i’m such a sucker for a good romance, especially one that had me giggling like this one did.
i am literally in love with this book, like, omg. i was laughing half the time, and sometimes i was crying, but it was such an enjoyable read. all of these characters i was absolutely rooting for (well, almost all of them — but i won’t give anything away!!) and they just felt so…. *real.* i also loved the anxiety rep in the MC, and how she was a little quirky and “too much” — felt like I saw myself in her a little bit.
i highly recommend this book!! can’t wait to see what Jessica Hatch does next.

Can I give this book 6 stars?
This was one of the funnest books I've read this year. The format of this book was so enjoyable, and this was the perfect book for book lovers. I mean, the magic of books that was portrayed in this was absolutely lovely. And I LOVED the MCs!! I truly did not find a singular character that I didn't like.
I really don't have a single bad thing to say about this book. Highly recommend.

Although I didn't finish this in time for its pub date (oops!) I did enjoy this book a lot! It started out kind of slow, but once it picked up it breezed by so quickly. Even though I read it in August/September, it gave perfect winter/Christmas vibes, which is my favorite season of the year! Not only were the vibes super awesome, but the romance was super cute - and I love a cute romance. And it had such a lovable MC!
