Alice, the main character, is thrown into a world that is so unlike what she is used to. I love how her love for books ends up changing her life and her view point. Instead of being so caught up in what she is reading all the time, she comes to understand the importance of people and being involved in their lives. Lynn Austin does a wonderful job integrating Christianity into her books to help Alice grow.

Overall I enjoyed this book. There were a few things I would have loved to have extended or gone into more. It felt a bit rushed in places.

One of my all-time favorites. It hit home. I resonate with August's sister in more ways than just compassion for her situation and never had a moment where I wasn't laughing or crying. It is a great insight into the lives of a family that has any sort of disability in their family. I highly recommend this book.

I have read this so many times I can't keep count. It is one of those books that gets you thinking about the world around you, and what is really important for a fulfilling life. It is one of those books that everyone should read in their lifetime.
