The story was predictable, good for reading when you want something lighthearted. The chemistry between the characters wasn't strong. The author didn't give much time to build the connection between them. The plot is unique at least to me if you take consideration of the fact that I haven't read much books which involves regency era. At 60% mark, it felt really boring. I understand the perspective of Lucas but the story could have been more if it involved much more plot twist.

I couldn't connect with the characters, now it's not a requirement for me to connect with the characters to like the books, but at least a little bit would have been good. Would I read this book again? No. It's a decent story, not something that would move my heart. The writing style is good, I don't have anything to say against it.

I started this book without reading the blurb, it's a novella. It's a quick marriage of convenience read which has little bit of mob world not fully. So if you are just started reading mafia world, then is for you. It's beginner level.

The chemistry between them is not something which will make me go swoon.

It physically pained me to finish this book. This was not what I expected. This is the book which shows the desolate, cold and bleak part of life. Thats the vibe I got. And I am not a fan of this vibe. This book doesn't have warmth. And I read books for it to give me warmth.

I tried to like this book, really trust me. I really tried but I couldn't stand it anymore so I had to skim through most of it, reading only the important part. Seriously if, there wasn't so much repetition, then this wouldn't have been so boring and it would be pretty short book. This book is filled with unnecessary poetic description of simple things. Now, I understand the author is trying to write in a poetic way, and she did it but she overdosed a little. She could have just said she flustered instead she goes ahead and says that she is dripping red painting on the floor. And there's many more like this.

This is completely subjective. You might like this book but I think you should know what you are getting yourself into before diving deep into it and getting disappointed -

- If you think you will get to see Warnette, then you are completely wrong. This book will give you Adam and not Warner. 😔
- This book has too much repetition, if you have the patience and has long attention span then go for it. 👀
- Half of the book is spent with Juliette dealing with her own mental conflicts. 💭
- This is overhyped, the plot is simple nothing extraordinary. ☕
- It's little bit dark with all the plot themes, so do check trigger warnings like mention of death, torture, manipulating, etc. 🌚

I was listening to the audiobook of this. The narrator has nice voice, soothing. But the voice of Aaron, done by the same narrator of Juliette. Which is why I can't take anything seriously. He is funny without even trying. Whatever he says, it makes me laugh so much. His voice is so dramatic.

The way he changes colour like a chameleon amuses me. It's like he has two personalities. One time he is shooting a bullet through someone's head and the next time he is telling Juliette to eat more because she feels dizzy from not eating enough. It's funny tho, I can't take this whole Reestablishment seriously 😂
It is so unbelievable to me that I am finding it funny.

Adam was the person you meet first in this book, and he is the first person who shows kindness to Juliette. Which makes her be obsessed with him. That's understandable since getting locked up for almost an year, makes her looses her mind. She hadn't made contact with people for years because of her lethal touch, so since the time she found out that Adam is immune to her, she can't stop touching Adam.

I don't know what to feel about this ship, since I was looking for more Warnette and not Adam moment. Adam is nice so can't shit talk about him, whereas Warner is a bit cruel(!?) not directly to Juliette but to other people, that took me really by surprise. Then again, life is cruel itself which is why this books screams reality. I read books to escape from reality, so let's say I was not really fond of it.

Warner manipulates Juliette a lot in this books, he keeps saying she will enjoy torturing people where as she doesn't want to do that. She doesn't want to become a monster like Warner who kills people without feeling remorse.

The only thing I found funny is this dialogue
“I have a bit of a problem with that myself, you know. Girls are always talking about electricity in their romance, but none are too happy to actually be electrocuted, apparently. Bloody confusing, is what it is.”

In this book, Juliette is very very fragile, not that I am shaming her for it but if she really wants to survive then she has to step up her game but instead she wants to die. She has suicidal tendencies in this book and Warner offered her luxurious life, to get out of her miserable life and fight the world with him who has hurt her. But she doesn't want to do that.

Conclusion, I am going to continue this series till Ignite Me, since I already bought the paperback of it and I don't want it to go to waste. If I see any character development from both of them I might continue to finish the full series.
