The reason for my five stars here is two fold. 1) this is a bl that follows a completely standard Shojo format instead of the yaoi format. That sets it apart as unique in its genre and is delightful to me as a queer person to come across a normal Shojo manga that happens to be queer. 2) it's just straight up a well done shojo. it does what it's supposed to do, and it does it well. It's cute, it's funny, it's self aware, and it's sweet. It's self referential at times and although the series does pause before there is a couple payoff the character and relationship developments are very well done (and the series is set to continue soon finally! yay!)

It's just a banger.

Review for completed 5 vol. series:
Much sweeter than I'd expected going in or after the first volume. Honestly an extremely wholesome and conflict free short series with a sprinkling of relatively tame spice. The sex scenes are actually illustrated which is a rare find in m/f josei that isn't just straight up erotica for the sake of it. This was plot with (what couldn't even generously be called) porn, not porn with plot. Anyway very short and sweet.

Usually I rate the first volume of a series for the entire series of comics or manga when they're in volumes like this, however, I'm rating the final volume separately from the first volume this time to represent the series my rating for the first volume was very low and the series over all is quite high. The first volume is kind of a nightmare to get through due to the mangaka crowding words. It seemed to be due to inexperience because by the end of the second collected volume it was mostly resolved and by the end of the series this is one of the best slice of life romance web mangas of recent years. The creator's growth as a mangaka is so fun to watch. Very fun, very nostalgic, and laser targeted for a certain age demographic of otaku that I happen to sit comfortably in the upper reaches of. A delight.
