Would highly recommend the audiobook version of this as the oral storytelling aspect worked so well. A great insight into this generation told through a real range of perspectives and archive materials.

A fantastic collection of writing, I shall definitely be exploring some of these authors further. My particular highlights were:
 Matakari All-Stars by Patricia Grace
 Rush by Nic Low
 Famished Eels by Mary Rokonadravu
After The Tsunami by Serie Bradford
 The Stone by Michael Puleloa
 Facebook Redux by Nic Low
Her Majesty's Royal Coven by Juno Dawson

There are so many things on the tin that I like about this, but I can't help but feel that it's too long for the actual plot covered and the writing is more YA than adult? Despite all the profanity and darkness, just the way worldbuilding was info dumped, the 2-dimensional villain, incessant Spice Girls references or the many drabbles on topics (opinions which very much align with my own beliefs, but just felt very "and now we're going to discuss why this attitude is bad" which, like, yes but did we have to repeat the same convo in so many iterations?) just didn't wholly work for me. So fun was had, but probably not going to dabble with the sequel!

This didn't really read like diaries that were intended to be published, more like notes to self and short thoughts. I do feel like a stronger editing hand was needed to really bring this together, but I most enjoyed getting his insights and thoughts on movies.
