If dark romance is your thing, then this is your book. There’s something about a dangerous man falling in love that makes me happy. Zuko and Alaska were great characters alone and even better together.

I think I would have given this 4.5 or more stars had it not been for the ending. There is nothing I despise more than open endings where nothing seems to come full circle. You’re left with envisioning what ending you want and I don’t like that. If you do, bravo, but books like that are not for me. All in all I LOVED this duology. It was not what I expected and that made me love it more. I feel this was a fantasy sort of “you’ve got mail” vibe in a war setting. I ADORED Iris and Roman’s relationship of rivals to lovers. And Attie and Marisol were the best supporting characters that had awesome side stories of their own. I recommend this book if you’re looking for a medium paced read with a fantasy vibe.

I liked this book more than I thought I would. It is more in the YA side of fantasy which I think is what surprised me about enjoying it. I loved the story and the mystery surrounding the typewriters. Iris and Roman are the perfect couple and the true definition of opposites attract. I can’t wait to dive into the second book and see where the story leads not only with Iris and Roman, but with the war as well.

I only gave 3.5 stars because I despise books that end with no explanation. I know they are meant to have you imagine what the ending should be or what happened that wasn’t written but still, I don’t like books like this. It was a slow start and I almost DNF’d this book but pushed through. Saffyre was a good character as was Owen but I didn’t like any of the Fours family. I really enjoyed Lisa Jewell’s book “then she was gone”…….but this book and “none of this is true” were duds for me with the say open ended endings.

Definitely not what I was expecting but still great, nonetheless. I will definitely read more books in this series because the flip of the switch with the villain getting the happy ending is new and exciting. I liked how this story played out and the ending…….wow! I loved it!

Upon starting this book, I wasn’t aware this was a prequel to the crossfire series (more like an inspiration to write bared to you). I would say nothing will compare to the crossfire series. I see similarities between this book and crossfire and I enjoyed this book being set back in time. Jess and Alistair are the best couple overcoming fears of relationships. There was spiciness in this book but again, not as good as the Sylvia’s crossfire series!  That is why this only got 3 stars.

I would have given this book 5 stars if it wasn’t so slow moving. I loved this story and was thrown for a little bit of a loop at the end. Didn’t see any of it coming but Alexis was a great character and while I wanted to dislike Mark, I loved him in the end. Great book!

What a great romance novel for the 21st century!!! I adored this book. From Fizzy’s quirkiness, that I saw much of myself in, to Connor’s absolute love and adoration he had for everyone in his life (besides his dad). It was so heartwarming but I’m still let wondering, did Fizzy get back to writing her book????

Wow! Finished this in about a day and a half. I couldn’t put it down. I’d say this being the second book by B.A. Paris that I’ve read, this was my favorite so far. Maybe it was the happy ending with Amelie and Hunter or maybe because Amelie got closure but either way, what an excellent read!

This series sure ended with a bang. I thought books 3 and 4 were good. Well this one took the cake. I just love the story of Gretchen and Colton. Their romance didn’t start out as such but developed over time with a lot of persistence. I gave this 3.5 stars because as much as I did like it, this series seemed to drag for me. Every book was the same concept with different characters and scenario’s.
