ohhhhh man. good to be back. fitz is FARRR less of an irritating narrator in this book, compared to the first trilogy - what a relief!!!
it wasn't until halfway through this book that i realised that amber is the fool LMFAO. it was a line about fitz broken nose that made me think of the face amber carved paragon and i went OHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

HMMMMM. pacing is soooo weird but thats whatever. there is so much repetition in this from stuff in the previous book, which was kind of grating. i think also maybe i just don't like fitz as a narrator??? i also think
the burich and molly stuff is sooo ooc LMFAO like. burrich would simply not do that,
anyway. great worldbuilding, time to start the next trilogy !

really delicious storytelling. something about the pacing is offputting though - i think it's written as something being remembered rather than something Happening. but it's good anyway.

i mean. i mean. i mean. i love the original trilogy. this was a little frustrating bc of how disconnected in tone and story it was from the other three, and how much parts of it cheapened the whole experience.
i loved the first maybe... 65% of this? but being inside lowry's head was as fucked up and disorienting as you'd expect, it was just that the tone was sooo jarring from the rest of this book and the other three that it was kind of just... offputting in a way that i felt didn't serve the purpose it was supposed to - i understand why that decision was made, i just didn't like it. it felt hard to take the end of the book seriously. i might just need to let it marinate a little bit. loved old jim's stuff though, very captivating.
