I'm amazed I didn't like this as much as I loved the Spear Cuts Through Water. It felt like the book just got away from me several times. The writing felt less punchy as Spear, and... I think the major issue is that I went back and read this after reading Spear, so I was just constantly comparing it or that masterpiece.

I am not the target audience for this book but I can appreciate the work it's doing. Godspeed.

Ava Reid nails the dark academia vibe, and continues to do so in this book. It felt like the fairytale it promised to be.

This book was deeply ambitious! There were sections that I adored - the maze! Oh, the maze! However, the dual timelines told in a frame became pretty unwieldy, and I just find myself thinking of only half the story. Its a good half, but it wasn't the half I thought I would like coming out of the first book.

This is a funky lil book! Great read like for the Becky Chambers crowd. Decolonial scifi with talking moose! Corporate backstabbing! It's got it all!

The animals are part of the charm, but it did sometimes too a bit too much into silly for me. Definitely recommend it for people who like a lighter/goofier sci fi!

This is a lovely, small book that feels like listening to symphony. It took me through the cycle of the day on the ISS and the inner lives of the characters. I can understand why it's won quite a few awards, as it's the type of book that feels like comfort.
