Avatar: The Last Airbender - Team Avatar Tales by Dave Scheidt, Kiku Hughes, Sara Goetter, Gene Luen Yang, Ron Koertge

Stories were pretty good and sweet but there were a few non team avatar stories. There was very little team avatar stories...so a bit disappointed.

Finished it in less than a hour, just couldn't put it down. It's so adorable and made me feel so warm and fuzzy. That said I have to cut a star because I feel like the format of graphic novels doesn't allow for much character depth. I felt that the Netflix adaptation made me feel more of the yearning and angst between Charlie and Nick, but nevertheless I still thought the novel was brilliant.

Not bad, infact better than Beach Read in some ways, especially the banter and connection between the protagonists. I was definitely a bit more invested in Poppy and Alex and wanted to know what happend between them. But I fully believe these two would be better off as good friends than lovers.
The main problem was the pacing of the story, the parts you want flash by and the ones you want to skim are a huge drag. When ever I was really into the current story, it would go into like 30 pages of a past summer story and it really took me out of the book. Also the current summer story were we get to see them become friends to lovers, is so uncomfortable. It is filled with descriptions of how disgustingly hot the weather is, and how horrible their hotel is. It just made me feel gross when then kissed or touched because all I could think about was sweat and sticky skin.
All the parts I was eagerly anticipating were so fast and weirdly void of emotion. Their love confessions, their first time having sex and their huge fight in Croatia were all just so dull and they were suppose to be the highlights. I think the reason they left their friendship for 2 years is so dumb and stupid, the two of them just love pushing eachother away with misunderstandings and miscommunications. The reason they slept together the first time was ridiculous and after 12 years of yearning and anticipation they just do it a random balcony getting drenched by rain. So you want me to believe that sex, after so many years of wanting is so devoid of any emotion and thought.
The weirdest thing of all was the end, it left me with more questions than answers. They both express such different views through the book that it feels weird to find them happy. Alex is a quiet and homey guy, Poppy is more extroverted and worldly. He wants kids, suburban house and a white picket fence and she wants to see everything and meet loads of people. Its just werid that they were just happy in the epilogue without ever talking about any of these important topics and deciding what they are gonna do in the future.
I would recommend Beach Read if you want a more smutty, casual romance to read in a carefree manner. This book is ok but it just didn't work for me and it just had an uncomfortable vibe throughout.

I really wanted to like this, I loved the premise and the blurb. I liked the idea of a romance intertwined with topics about equality, politics, lgbtq rights and other forward thinking ideas. But the execution really put me off.
**Slight Spoilers**
The main character was the main reason for my dislike of the book. How am I supposed to like a trashy, cheating, lying, alcohol abusing woman and root for her success. I understand that the book is about progress in Texan Politics but, does the author expect me to actually believe that such a woman, after all her scandals and antics was allowed to successful run for governer of TEXAS!! It's mind boggling
