Finally finished this! Overall, it was a fun fantasy story! There is a bit too much for me on the detailed world-building. I prefer world-building that is more to the point but still creates impact rather than overly detailed descriptions of everything. Im also not super thrilled with the ending. However, I’m curious about the following books in the series and this strange place of the undying in space. Also, it could have been gayer

A quick and surprisingly cozy read. It was like visiting with a friend who spends the evening telling you about the complexities, beauty, and pain of their life and upbringing. Highly recommend for anyone esp if they want to know more queer Muslim life

This book makes me appreciate the show so much more. I’m so glad they put this ragtag team in with the show; otherwise, I think it would have been too boring! I will say that the love stories woven in are incredibly overplayed, and I wished they weren’t part of it at all. The "I love you/I hate you," "I love you/I cannot tell you" dynamics are really old and very boring. Not the greatest book series Ive ever read but entertaining! Good one to read while driving or making art. I don't feel too concerned about missing details

There was so much I liked about this book that it’s hard to explain. It was real, tender, and thought provoking. I really enjoyed both main characters and what they thought about their own experiences when they went to America & UK. And how they felt moving back to Nigeria. Their love story was not of interest to me although it was relatable, and at times, hard to read, especially at the end. TBH the ending felt kind of flat because the rest of the story was so rich with their deep inner worlds and relationships to others.
