This is a mystery framed by a story of a woman forced to rediscover herself, and I loved it. There were some points that were a little annoying to me in the moment, but they all resolved wonderfully and the end of the story makes everything feel worth the journey even if you somehow didn't enjoy the ride.

I really enjoyed this story and world, and the bits leading up to the end were really gripping, but the ending kept it from being 5 stars for me. It felt like it wasn't as finished as it could have been, but the lack of resolution was probably on purpose to bring it full circle.

This book was good, but I kind of felt like I had to force myself to get through it. It has a magic system that is very loosely explained but is internally consistent. I don't know why it didn't grip me.
